About John Fairbank

John Fairbank is one of the more experienced Gynaecologists working in East Berkshire today.

He studied medicine at Cambridge University and Guy’s Hospital in London before starting basic specialty training at Guy’s Hospital. He spent six months of his ‘elective’ year at the special care unit at Queen Charlottes Hospital and six months at the Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital in Fulham Road. He completed his Registrar training at the Royal London hospital and then carried out 18 months research  on cervical cancer screening and free radical biochemistry at the Whittington Hospital which ended in the award of an MD thesis. His final Senior Registrar training was at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford where further specialist training was obtained in aspects of Gynaecology and High risk pregnancy in the Silver Star Unit.

John was appointed to Heatherwood and Wexham Park hospital trust in 1992 as a Consultant Gynaecologist and Obstetrician and accepted admitting privileges to the Princess Margaret Hospital in Windsor at the same time. He enjoyed a busy Obstetric practice at Heatherwood Hospital and private Obstetric practice in Windsor until giving up Obstetrics and concentrating on Gynaecology in 2003. He left the NHS to concentrate on Private practice and other personal; interests in 2012. He consults privately at the Bridge Clinic in Maidenhead on Wednesday and at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.

John Fairbank is fully accredited, licensed and insured and is a member of the British Medical Association, Royal Society of Medicine, British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical pathology, and has been a member of the British Menopause Society. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

He is supported by his private secretarial team (Carole Coster and Terri Porteus) who are based at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Windsor.

He is married to Moira and has three sons between the ages of 14 and 26.
